Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome the the Platinum Builders Frequently Asked Questions section. One of the hardest questions to answer is “How Much?” It also happens to be the most asked question too. There is a great amount of variance in prices and layouts that cannot be fully accounted for without a proper site visit and estimation. However, when most clients ask this question up front, they are merely looking for a loose budget number and they understand the price greatly depends on the fixtures, upgrades and layout desired. Therefore you will see a lot of the answers start with a ‘it depends’, and unfortunately it is just that—dependent on many factors that we cannot be aware of until we know the full scope of the desired project. That being said, we will try to give the most helpful answer possible and if we cannot directly answer the question, we will point you to some resources that can help you develop a loose budget for your project.

Is there a Home Remodel Incentive?

The short answer is yes, there are several incentives for doing a home remodel. The government often has a "Home Improvement Grant" that can act like a financial aid for a home remodel as long as the project meets their requirements. Some of these grants tend to be geared toward homeowners that are 62 years old or older. However, you should check with the local HUD (Housing and Urban Development) office to see what is available. You can visit hud.gov to find your local office.
Additionally, the government also gives incentives for using high efficiency products and appliances. Sometimes this is a cash rebate or break on taxes, so it worth checking out when choosing fixtures and appliances. You can check out engergy.gov to find more information.

How to choose from all the different Custom Home Builders?

As recommended by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), "If you're in the market for a new home, you should shop for your builder as carefully as you shop for your home. Whether you are buying a condo, a townhouse, a house in a subdivision or a custom-built house, you want to know that you are buying a good quality home from a reputable builder. That being said, you should feel comfortable and trust who you work with.
